Arrived in Boston on June 25, 2009.

Boarded our ship on June 27th for a 7 night cruise

One day to explore Boston

Loved our tour of Harvard University

Statue of John Harvard in the Harvard Yard. Notice the polished bronze left toe. Hundreds of visitors rub the toe for good luck every day.  They are unaware that Harvard tradition dictates that every student pee on the toe to assure graduation.

First stop Bar Harbor, Maine.  It was raining but that didn't stop Barbara.

It rained the whole day we were in Halifax so we remained onboard.

Rained in Sydney, Nova Scotia so we remained onboard.

Finally, the rain let up a bit so we got to explore Charlottetown on Prince Edward Island.  We walked all over the town, toured the Province House where the Canadian Confederation was formed, tasted some chocolate covered potato chips at Anne of Green Gables Store and enjoyed the music and dancing of local performers on the main street.

On the way to Québec City.

Québec City on the St. Lawrence River.

The first thing you see is the historic Hotel Fontenac perched on the cliff above the harbor.  It's a strenuous climb but worth the effort.

The fresco on the side of this  building is amazing.

The Citadelle is the largest fortification build by the British in North America.

Walked all over the grounds, watch the changing of the guard and visited the museum.

Great view of old town from The Citadelle

Explored Old Town until it was time to reboard the ship.

On the way to Montréal they made us all chefs.

Approaching Montréal Harbour, the St. Lawrence River gets very narrow.

Needed several tug boats to guide us to the dock.

The colored tents on the left are the home of the Cirque du Soleil.

Rented a car in Montréal and drove to Colchester VT to spend July 4th with daughter Anne and grandchildren Sophie and Max.

Max at 15 months old discovering the joys of water.

Continued our trip by taking the ferry to Marth's Vineyard.

The view from our room.
Note to self:  Next time BYOB because this place is dry!

Sculptures by Steve Lohman   www.LineArtGallery.com
While exploring the island we got a tip about an artist who lived on a remote part of the island and was famous for his wire sculptures.  We searched out his house/studio.  Knocked on the door.  He was hard at work preparing for the next big show and happy to show us around.  At the time we were interested in wire sculptures.  I almost bought the one on the left but Barbara said the only place she would allow me to hang it was in my closet.

South Beach.  The water must be very cold.

Plymouth Rock Monument

They didn't hide the fact that this probably wasn't "the" rock the Mayflower Pilgrims landed on.
Still, it's a nice momument to comenorate this famous event in the American history.

Toured a replica of the Mayflower.  Made me appreciate our cruise on the Maasdam.
