On the way to Kobarid, we stooped at Lake Bled which is a beautiful resort in northern Slovenia that comes complete with a sweeping alpine panorama, a fairy-tale island, a cliff-hanging medieval castle, a lake side promenade, and a unique dessert called a Bonfire.
We decided to skip the pilgrimage to the island and instead walk the 3.5 mile path around the island.
I was so hungry after the walk, I forgot to take a picture of the famous Bonfire cake.
This is a half eaten Bonfire Cake.

We also stopped to see an Olympic class ski jump facility being constructed.
Inspect a two person Russian church in the middle of no where.
Stop in the mountain pass for a picnic.
And risk our lives on this rotten / rusty bridge to see the Slovenian version of the Grand Canyon.
