This was a drive day. Down the West coast, over the mountain pass and inland to Lake Wanaka.
The lake is surrounded by majestic mountains. The Resort at Lake Wanaka is located right on the lake about a 20 minute walk to downtown.

On the way into town, Barbara was determined to see if the water temp was warm enough to put on her bikini.
We are so lucky to have a beautiful day to explore Lake Wanaka. On our way into town we came upon a market.
It didn't take Barbara long to zero in on a fancy piece of local jewelry.
Barbara's trinket is a perfect example of traditional Maori design made from local green stone.
I scored a jar of honey.
Then we climbed the hills around the lake to burn off 2 scoops of Patagonia ice cream and were rewarded with stunning views.
Along the way we stumbled onto the local bridge club.
