Vancouver Island

Drove to Coombs this morning. The big tourist attraction is an old country market; but, that doesn't describe the plethora of other stores with international foods, imported gifts, and in store baked goods. Soon you realize this place also qualifies as a farm without fences because there are rabbits scurrying about and goats grazing on the grass rooftop of the Old Country Market.

Adding to the interest of this area is a patio of stone statues. They might not be in the league as Rodin sculptures but they are quite good.

The market and bakery is a tour in itself but we resisted the wonderful pastries and breads for a thin crust pizza at Cuckoo's Trattoria and Pizzeria. Turned out to be a good choice but very spicy so we HAD to tame the flame with the biggest single scoop of ice cream I've every had at the Ice Cream Shoppe.   69 flavours...Huge Sizes...Moose Tracks, Wet Paint, Birthday Cake, Black Licorice, Cream Soda Float!!

On the way back to Pacific Shores Resort for our nap we decided to check out the world famous sand sculptures in Portsville.
