Granville Island is actually an isthmus on False Creek Bay in Vancouver. Once a rat infested industrial area it has been converted to a unique high end shopping and dining area. It's very crowded all the time. Basically, parking is always full so we decided to walk from our hotel, about 2 kilometers. This is a picture taken from the Granville Street Bridge |
They do not allow any chain stores on the island. No McDonalds, Olive Garden or Walmart. So Barbara had a ball checking out all the neat stores. While Steve drooled over all the beautiful sail boats and yachts in the harbor around the island. |

Walked along the sea wall, once again admiring all the boats and water traffic. Finally, walked through Yaletown, an older neighborhood, kind of like New York's SOHO. Passed some great looking restaurants but were not hungry. |
