Finally, Barbara got me on a bicycle. And she picked the best place possible ...Stanley Park. It's mostly flat and has dedicated bike lanes. There was no way I could object and I'm glad I didn't. Yes, you can still ride a bike after 40 years, proving you never forget how to ride a bike. This was just the ideal way to explore the park. |

They say that Stanley Park is bigger than SF Golden Gate Park. That may be true but Stanley Park is only 405 hectares and the GG park is a whopping 1,017 acres. You do the math. |
Our first stop was the aquarium. It features a beluga whale show, dolphin show, 4D (not a typo)movie theatre, and the usual assortment of fish, sharks, jelly fish, etc. We saw about one third of it and decided exploring the park outside on bikes would be more fun. The aquarium really deserves at least 4 hours of one's attention without the outdoor distraction. |
The bike ride past the totem poles, through the gardens, around the sea wall, passed the largest pool I've ever seen and along the beach was just delightful. |
After returning the bikes, we walked along the sea wall to Canada Place. Along the way we stopped at a fancy restaurant on the boat docks for a cocktails and a salmon dinner. |
